Who can use a Lawn Chick?
Urban or Suburban residents with limited space – eliminate the need for a traditional coop and allow your hens the benefits of free-ranging.
Owners with predator trouble – keep your chickens protected around the clock without keeping them cooped up!
Modern homesteaders – increase your time and efficiency by using a coop that moves itself
Why not just use a stationary coop or a tractor I move manually?
Pasture rotation — keeps hens on fresh grass, reduces bare spots, and cuts down on disease
Accessible for all — perfect for people with disabilities who can’t move heavy manual tractors
Quarantine option — use alongside your normal coop to safely separate sick chickens, a broody hen or new chicks
The challenges of raising chickens
Raising chickens, while rewarding, comes with several challenges that require thoughtful solutions. A primary concern is providing adequate and secure housing, as chickens need enough space both inside their coop and out in the run to stay healthy and thrive.
Coops must be built with sturdy materials and tamper-resistant locks to deter predators like raccoons and foxes, which pose a constant threat at night. During the day, aerial predators add yet another risk when chickens are allowed to free-range.
Beyond safety, owners must commit to daily care, including feeding, watering, egg collection, and cleaning the coop to manage waste. Regular cleaning is essential to prevent pests and reduce the risk of disease, such as bacterial infections and parasites. On top of that, depending on your location, local ordinances and potential conflicts with neighbors over noise, odor, coop placement, or free-ranging can complicate the experience.
But here’s the good news: the Lawn Chick was designed to remove those barriers. With its predator-resistant run, easy-clean design, automated mobility, and convenient access for food, water, and eggs, the Lawn Chick makes raising chickens possible for anyone—even those who have never kept hens before. It turns what can feel overwhelming into something fun, healthy, and simple.
I love chickens
I’m Valerie. By day, I’m a financial planner at BMG Advisors—but every spare moment is devoted to my love of chickens. When I brought home my first flock in 2016, I knew nothing about raising hens or building coops. My early attempts weren’t exactly pretty, but with each new build I learned more—how to make them safer from predators, easier to access, and better suited to where my chickens actually like to spend their time. And I’m still learning every day.
In 2024, I found myself between jobs with three months of open time, so I let curiosity lead the way. Traditional chicken tractors struck me as clunky, unattractive, and high-maintenance—leaving bare patches in the yard and demanding constant attention. Then I thought, what if there was a chicken-coop Roomba that roamed the lawn and provided breakfast at the same time? That idea became Lawn Chicks.
My work—whether with clients or with chickens—is driven by a sense of joy, and curiosity. That’s exactly what I hope your Lawn Chick will bring into your life.
